Digging for Diamonds,…Literally!

Today in geography class we learned about the state of Arkansas. I am so glad I bought this new book, “America’s 50 States” because it is bright and fun and has just enough information to keep a child’s attention.  I forget how much I learn when teaching these things too.

The kids were really stoked when we read about Crater of Diamonds State Park.  I was so impressed that there is actually a place that lets you dig for gems and keep your findings!  Looks like we may try to plan a trip sometime for a unit study on natural minerals and the like.
