Slow Down. Stop. Smell.

flowerWhat do we do when we find ourselves too busy to enjoy the most simple yet profound beauties in life?  What do we do when we have not given ourselves permission to take a mental break from the surrounding issues?

We should cry out to God for help, indeed!

In order to be in a state of over-flow {where we pour out onto others in a life-giving way} one needs to be in a place of receiving from their Abba Father, getting filled up with Him daily in order to be over-flowing.

Bonnie’s post today {find her link below}, is right where my heart is at. God has been trying to get this soul rest thing through my thick head since about January of this year.

We must, I repeat, we must allow ourselves to have that intimate, ever-growing time with our Lord and not let to-do’s, guilt, or whatever it may be, stand in our way. Our very life depends on it.

Ladies, we are treasured dearly by God.  Let’s pray and ask Him to help us learn the signals when we’ve gone too long with that much needed rest, and even more so, I pray He will help us to cultivate a daily life of coming before Him out of sheer joy, to where we won’t even find ourselves having gone too far without.

Let’s learn not just to slow down and stop, smelling, tasting, thanking {etc} the great gifts He gives us daily {and many more we may not even realize!} but let’s learn to start out like this.

It is just such a strong conviction of mine, that no matter what our schedules look like, even if it looks nuts like ours right now, getting up at 2:30am….find God before you go looking or doing anything else. The day makes for a much more pleasant day, I promise!!!

Psalm 23 Amplified Bible

A Psalm of David.

1 “The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.

He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.

He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him—not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake.

Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my [brimming] cup runs over.

Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.”

  1. This got my attention today, Meg… “In order to be in a state of over-flow… one needs to be in a place of receiving from their Abba Father….”
Why is it I think He’ll just run around after me dousing me with everything I need like some kind of fairy god-father? And even when I do stop, I need to do it with intention! Seeking Him out diligently.
My daily bread suddenly takes on new meaning.
Love your words! So glad we were neighbours at #BelovedBrews!
