The Guardian of Our Hearts

Proverbs. Ah.

I love this book in the Bible.

As I am reading it I am reminded why I need to stay in it.  To keep me on His paths.  To keep that marvelous, glorious Truth coming in on a daily basis, in a world that wants to lure and entice me with just as much of quite the opposite.

I was searching online for some articles on Guarding the Heart and I ran across a wonderful website, at least it is by judging from the fruits of this particular page: http://truthcannotbesilent.org/Journal.asp?JID=200&TID=8

It was so good that I whipped out the laptop and made a spot on the bed, AKA, me surrounded by books, Bibles and pencils oh my….(humming along to that song on the Wizard of Oz of course…did you catch that?)

I read Proverbs chapters 1 through 4 tonight but I am going to have to go back and reread it again. And again. And again.

It just can’t go in enough.

When I wonder away from His Word, letting life’s demands take over, I am left strained, drained, and mentally complain.  But when I remain in His Word, the results are always different because I have put that lovely Truth into my head and heart, fresh and piping hot for that day.

Having my body full of His food allows me to have a renewed mind, shifting my focus and perspective, resulting in the emulating of God-like character in circumstances that would otherwise have me kicking and screaming like a toddler.

I need to stop allowing things to come before my time with my Heavenly Father and remember that it is SO worth it to seek Him first. I want to be close to Him.  I want to have my heart guarded!

Lord, help us to continually seek Your face, no matter what.  Keep us desiring more of You.  I for one, never want to be without Your presence.  Give those reading this, my family (both blood and the Body of Christ), friends and myself wisdom, understanding, insight, discernment and good judgement. By Your Words and the power of the Holy Spirit, guard our hearts each day. Keep us on Your paths so that we can be True lights for Your Kingdom.  In Jesus name, Amen.
