Are You Feeling Strained?

Food5

Are you feeling strained like a box of cooked pasta today?

Are you feeling stretched like rolled out taffy lately?

I woke up this morning, not able to seemingly have fully re-cooped from the weekend, let alone seeing my husband off once again Monday morning.  I had an appointment today right off the bat and it looks like it’s going to be a weekly thing for a while.  I have to remind myself – it is going to be okay!  Anything can become chore-like when one is toting children along…

…So reminding myself that God will go with me, is a daily doing!

The reality is: the responsibilities & the thoughts that come with them can become overwhelming if I allow them.  I try not to have too many thoughts without having them hooked to prayers.  Thoughts running wild, with no accountability or acknowledgement of our Lord who is bigger than those situations, can be spiritually deadly.

Situations. . .{to name only a tiny, few} & what to do:

  • When your body is weak. . . Rest in Him.
  • When your brain is overwhelmed. . .Rest in Him.
  • When you have decisions to make. . . First, rest in Him.
  • When your kids are pulling at you while you are trying to do things to make their life better but they must not realize it or they’d stop pulling at you… again, Rest in Him. (note to self: maybe I should stop what I’m doing in that moment and go play with them)

I am writing this to myself as much as I am anyone today.

You see, my husband is only home every other weekend and therefore as soon he gets here, it feels like he’s gone – so we can never really fit all that needs to happen when he’s around, in those 2 days.

And emotions can try to get the best of me when I say “not yet” to the things that need to get done, just so I can actually sit and BE with him.

Emotions can also try to get the best of me when we do the things that need to be done and say “not yet” to just BEING with each other.

It is not easy.

But God is here.  He is faithful.

I am going to choose to stand on the truth that what we do in faith when we have sought Him in it, will not be useless but it will bear fruit in both of us.

***

Have you ever been strained or stretched?

Have you ever had to strain your eyes because you felt like you couldn’t quite see what was up ahead?

All of this straining causes me to think of one word: FAITH

We must have faith.  Have faith even when the path we are on only has one visible step, the first one, and then after that unknown, …that He will do what He said  He would do – Work it out for our good because we love Him.

When I think of faith, I think of faithfulness.

I think of the faithful men of old who obeyed, who stepped forward in obedience, not knowing the next step:

Hebrews 11:6-9 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)

6 “Without faith no one can please God. Whoever comes to God must believe that he is real and that he rewards those who sincerely try to find him.

Noah was warned by God about things that he could not yet see. But he had faith and respect for God, so he built a large boat to save his family. With his faith, Noah showed that the world was wrong. And he became one of those who are made right with God through faith.

God called Abraham to travel to another place that he promised to give him. Abraham did not know where that other place was. But he obeyed God and started traveling because he had faith. Abraham lived in the country that God promised to give him. He lived there like a visitor who did not belong. He did this because he had faith. He lived in tents with Isaac and Jacob, who also received the same promise from God.”

Faith will hush the doubts that try to sneak up.  When the doubts try to lay claim to a situation, we must draw close to our Lord and move forward anyway.

Maybe you are experiencing something that is straining and squeezing you right now.  Maybe you are in a position today where you feel that your circumstances are too much and you aren’t sure how you can go on another day as is.

Whatever is straining you or your faith my friend, be of good cheer because when we choose to move forward anyways, God will reward us.  Even if it’s not here, we will see it fulfilled one day.  We can stand on His promises.

I am moving forward anyway too, you are not alone!

-M.E.Weyerbacher

PS: I pray today that we will remember we are not alone, and that He, as well as our community of believers are right there in the good times and the bad, the easier ones and that not so easy.

Be blessed today in Jesus’ name.
