Tea & Word Tuesday | Revelation 22:14

Welcome to the kick off of something simply lovely and raw that has been stirring in my heart for a while now.  I will be sharing a scripture that has inspired or spurred me in my faith walk and invite you along to add your thoughts & experiences too!

I have put off T&W because about the same week I was going to launch off the pad with is, another lovely blogger started one similar to this and I was nervous it might seem like I was being a copycat.

I waited and prayed and mentally put it on a for later shelf.

I did not want to be a copycat you know, even though the inspiration had been floating around for a while.

I didn’t know God had other plans.  I thought it was going to be some big, cool thing I would start with or have written out already – or even something funny like me.

Turns out, no.

I don’t do as well with scripted things. I am actually a more off-the-cuff kind of gal, so it is not surprising that this morning when I hopped out of bed, that it felt like today was the day.

It came after a night of restlessness and fighting off bad thoughts, replacing them with God’s promises.

It came after an unusually energetic morning after having this restlessness night syndrome.

I don’t know why when I lay down to go to bed, it seems like thoughts try to take over.  I know I am not the only one who experiences this either….

But keep reading and let me know what you think.

Purify & Cleanse

**You need to read the whole chapter in context to get the fullness of it, but I felt like verses 10-11 were needed if I was going to share the one chosen for today.**

Revelation 22:10-11

“Then he instructed me, “Do not seal up what you have written, for the time of fulfillment is near.  And when that time comes, all doing wrong will do it more and more; the vile will become more vile; good men will be better; those who are holy will continue on in greater holiness.”

Revelation 22:14

“Blessed forever are all who are washing their robes, to have the right to enter in through the gates of the city and to eat the fruit from the Tree of Life.”

My Bible Commentary says it like this:

Those who are washing their robes are those who are seeking to purify themselves from a sinful way of life. They are daily striving to remain faithful and ready for Christ’s return.

I loved that God brought me to these scriptures this morning because I yearn to be holy, to be more like Jesus, no matter how I fall daily, I still yearn for this.

Lately, old man temptations have tried to creep back up again, and I know that I can overcome this with the Lord’s help because I have said no to it before time and time again.

Most days they are non-existent but then sometimes out of no where – whoop – here comes the enemy waving something in my face.

As I tell those temptations NO and redirect my brain to what is good, lovely, pure..the Lord helps me overcome.

He is helping me to wash my robe daily.

Daily cleansing my heart and mind from the inside out.

Far more than old time lard or new-fangled exfoliaters could ever accomplish.

It is not so easy to put this out there, that I once struggled with an ugly, hidden sin.

There’s a voice that says I will be judged by my brothers and sisters in Christ, so I shouldn’t go around telling people.

But where the Light shines, there is freedom.

And He is healing things in a way I never imagined.

Healing that cleanses from all unrighteousness.

To make me bold and beautiful from the inside.

***

How about you, friend? Have you been there? Have you dealt with in the past or are dealing with now something heavy, ugly, or maybe even doubt your righteousness found in Christ?

I am here to remind you today, to keep up the faith and not to lose Hope.

It is one thing to live in sin and another to be tempted by it.

In this life there will be trials and temptations but God said to take heart because He has overcome the world.

Just remember to call on the name of the Lord when you feel the enemy creeping up on you.  He doesn’t stand a chance when you grab the Word, pray and especially call on a trusted confidant to support you and be a speaker of Life to your heart’s ears.

And as we seek to daily wash our spiritual robes, by saying no to sin and yes to Him, we can help pull others out of darkness too by sharing our living testimonies!

I invite you to share. Whatever it is that is on your heart.

We all need an open ear, a heart to lean on, and prayers for sure.
