Create Memorable Experiences Right Where You Are {plus giveaway}

I’ve always been one drawn to adventure and curious as a kitten who lost her mittens, but much of the past decade previously tempted me to blame life circumstances on my lack thereof.

This past spring finally urged me to take the bull by the horns and climb out of my tub of self-loathing, stop being jealous of other people’s lives on social media, and start forging a memory lane of our own.

Sure there were reasons such as financial setbacks but I have since learned the main cork that can really plug up our lives is when we don’t take responsibility and don’t take initiative.

Siting around and waiting for the next big thing to happen, the next big breakthrough, or for God to do what we think is best is probably not going to get us very far in life.

Even praying while waiting still involves living. – Tweet This

So, We Took The Happiness Dare

That’s right.. We plunged heart-first into it.  Minus a few times that tried to sneak up on me, I haven’t really looked back. That was in May I believe. So, if I am remembering right, that is 4 months of taking responsibility for my own happiness instead of waiting around on others to do it for me, or waiting for the weather to change before I start planting.

Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 NLT

Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant.
If they watch every cloud, they never harvest.”

In her book, The Happiness Dare, Jennifer says, “Thank God for what you have been given and then use your gratefulness as way to share the Gospel with a world in need of a reason to praise.”

These past few months have held profound pockets of growth as we started seeing our daily lives through a new lens.

Waking up each day in expectancy of what good can happen in the midst of an ordinary day has transformed my mind for the good, or is transforming I should say -because it is an epic journey that continually unfolds.

Don’t skip away yet. Scroll down to see the happiness we made while meandering down our country road. Hope you enjoy the photos because I enjoy taking them and seeing characteristics of God in His creation!

  1. I used to be that woman who envied everyone’s social media lives. Blah!! Time to make waves! 😀
I love your photographs of country living. They remind me of where I grew up with my grandma and gramps in south Texas. Beautiful memories and even more beautiful surroundings. So excited to hear that you are carving your own happiness. xoxo Have a beautiful and blessed week, sister friend!

PS: I tweeted and shared on my FB writer page. Go, Meg, Go!!!

  2. Thank you for taking us along on your beautiful walk! We have some places in our lakeside neighborhood that look very similar. I have missed taking my long walks, so yours was just the lift I needed tonight! Such good encouragement to lift our focus up to see the good that God is creating in our days! –Blessings!

  3. What a great reminder to pay attention. To take the long view for our real hope but meanwhile to live in a place of expectancy, where God’s glory is revealed in small doses–maybe because it’s all we can handle! Tweeting 😊

  4. Meg, I am so excited for you! You’ve been on my heart for several days and I have been looking forward to stopping by and seeing what awesomeness you’re up to. It’s taking the bull by the horns indeed! Also, what a talented photographer you are! Thanks for sharing all the goodness with us. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Kelly! It is only my camera phone but maybe one day I can upgrade, I pray! Thanks for your kind words here and for caring, sweet friend! I hope to stop by soon, prayers and blessings this week. xoxo

  5. I love your country road…is that Queen Anne’s Lace … that lovely white delicate flower? I have not seen one in years so am not sure. But I loved them as a girl in Virginia.

  6. Great book and gorgeous images, Meg! So proud of you for taking the challenge! And thank you for sharing hope at #MomentsofHope!
    Blessings and smiles,
